Our salt lick is a natural source of essential minerals for livestock. Enriched with copper and cobalt, it effectively replenishes micronutrient deficiencies to support animal health, condition and performance.
Animals should have unrestricted access to salt licks throughout the year, as they should to water. Particularly in summer, when they are on pasture and receive less concentrated feed, their diet can be mineral deficient. Likewise in winter, when roughage (e.g. silage, hay) produced under adverse conditions may not contain sufficient minerals.

Additional information
Animals should have constant access to salt licks, just like water, regardless of the season. Animals kept on pasture in summer are particularly vulnerable to deficiencies. This is because they receive less forage, which makes their rations poor in minerals, and also the forage (especially young forage) is not a source of sufficient minerals. These deficiencies also occur in animals that are fed roughage produced under unfavourable conditions during the winter. Improper preservation of silage or harvesting of hay under unfavourable conditions can contribute to the depletion of valuable minerals in these feeds.
